About Dungeon Blaster

Dungeon Blaster is a blog (and soon YouTube channel?) about classic adventure games, like original Dungeons & Dragons. It's influenced by the simple, content-focused style of 1970s gaming magazines. Articles, resources, and full adventure scenarios will be found within.

Possible topics include:

  • System-agnostic gameplay and refereeing of adventure games, and role-playing games in general.
  • (Original) Dungeons & Dragons.
  • (Original) Empire of the Petal Throne.
  • (Original) Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.
  • Classic wargaming, a worthy and fun hobby for any adventure gamer.
  • Games and publications less-known today, like Arduin and Space Gamer.

Only those who take leisurely what the people of the world are busy about can be busy about what the people of the world take leisurely. – Chang Ch'ao

Dungeon Blaster is written by myself, David Gay. I started refereeing in the early 2000s with the 3rd edition starter set. I tried my hand at many game systems. Over time, I came to prefer the classic style. In 2020, I returned to tabletop gaming after ~9 years away. I hope my writing helps gamers add to their own enjoyment of these wonderful games.

I wrote Demon Idol, a free, gamist AD&D interpretation. I also wrote a blog called Caltrops for Breakfast. I'll be posting revised versions of those articles here on Dungeon Blaster.
